In our continuing effort to increase coverage of several higher-seeded teams that haven't gotten as much cyber-ink as they probably deserve on this blog, we now turn our attention to Nicolet, the No. 3 seed in D1 S8. The one place the Knights had gotten Cheese & Volleyball notice is on our Freshmen on the Floor list, which features hitters Dana Kenney and Melissa Morello, as well as Kristyalen Goode. And the older players on this squad aren't that much older. In fact, all of their starters are underclassmen, including setter Rachel Morello and middle Nikki Fleming.
Undefeated in North Shore Conference duals this season, Nicolet has beaten such ranked adversaries as Homestead and Cedarburg. Here's a recent article about the team from Fox Point Now. Nicolet opens the playoffs against Milwaukee Marshall/Custer. If they continue winning, they could be staring at a sectional semifinal showdown against No. 2 seed Divine Savior Holy Angels.
