Will the Lady Popes Reach the Resch: A Preview of Division One Sectional Eight

OK, this preview officially ends our 28-day trip through every WIAA sectional. And, unfortunately, it's a little light at the moment. We promise, however, not to abandon it. Check back in a few days and it should have a lot more information than you see here. It really should.

Contenders: Divine Savior Holy Angels, Milwaukee Bay View, Milwaukee Bradley Technical, Milwaukee King, Milw. Madison University/Northwest, Milwaukee Marshall/Custer, Milwaukee Riverside University, Milwaukee South, Milwaukee Washington, Nicolet, Oak Creek, Pius XI, South Milwaukee and Wauwatosa East.

Top Finishers Last Year: Pius XI defeated Divine Savior Holy Angels in the sectional final.

Random Notes: Divine Savior Holy Angels has a great outside in senior Lesley Steinmetz and she'll likely be getting her sets from sophomore Amanda Dettman. They also have defensive specialist Kelly Brandenburg to supply plenty of digs.

Oak Creek could be without junior outside hitter Lyndsay Zabkowicz due to injury, but they still have junior setter Veronica Chandre and middle Alyssa Schneider.

Pius XI features a wealth of seniors that includes outsides Caroline Langer and Emily Sydnor. SIU-Edwardsville recruit Sammi Minton will no doubt set. Also look for a big contribution from senior middle Becca Krystek.

Nicolet loses a lot of seniors, including all-conference performers Ally Werner, Ashley Klingspohn, Anna Lautmann and Jessie Richards. We'll fill in this paragraph with details about who remains as we uncover information.

Wauwatosa East's roster will include 6'2" junior middle Hannah Iyamah and senior Taylor Lindl.

So that's your quick, too-brief overview. Which means the only thing that remains to do is make our final sectional champ prediction of the month.

Our Prediction: Pius over Oak Creek in five.
