According to the Wisconsin Juniors site, Myanna Ruiz (Walden III/Racine Park '13) will continue her volleyball career at UW-Milwaukee. We've added the 2010 first-team Southeast all-conference honoree to our master list of 2013 women's recruits. Congrats.

Burlington's Kaysie Shebeneck to Texas A&M

According to the Milwaukee Sting site, Kaysie Shebeneck (Burlington '13) will continue her volleyball career at Texas A&M University. To our knowledge, the sophomore setter/right side is the fourth in that class to verbal and we've added her to our master list of 2013 women's recruits. Congrats.

2013 Badger Verbal Lauren Carlini Makes 2011 U.S. Girls National Team

The setter/right side from Illinois will be part of the team competing in Turkey this August. Here's a story in the Chicago Sun Times.

Discerning eyes will also notice that former Wisconsin-Parkside player and coach Melissa Wolter is an assistant coach for the team. Congrats to both.

We Have a 2013: Catholic Memorial's Alyssa Dawson to Marquette

To our knowledge, Alyssa Dawson (Catholic Memorial '13) is the first Wisconsin prep player in the class of 2013 to verbal -- and she's going to the Marquette Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, we can't add her to our master list of 2013 women recruits just yet because it doesn't exist. We'll fix that in the very near future. Congrats.

Future Badger an AAU All-American

We had listed the Wisconsinites who were named All Stars and All Americans at the recently completed AAU Championships in Orlando, but we should also mention that Class of 2013 Badger verbal Lauren Carlini of Sports Performance 16 Elite, an Illinois club, also earned All American honors in 16 Open. Congrats.

Singapore-Bound

Class of 2013 Wisconsin Badgers volleyball verbal Lauren Carlini is on the US Girls Youth National Team which will compete in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August. Best of luck from the Badger State.

Q: Is It Too Late to Add to Our 2009 Freshmen on the Floor List?

A: It's never too late to make any of our lists more complete, especially when you consider our source. All the freshmen below were recently named to the 2009 WVCA all-academic team. To be eligible, they not only needed a killer GPA, but also a varsity letter. According to numerous sources, including the Sports Performance site, Lauren Carlini (West Aurora, IL '13) has indeed verbaled to the Wisconsin Badgers. Here's a story about how it all happened. Many have speculated that she might be related to Maria Carlini (what with the same last name and all), but we've found no indication that this is in fact the case.
