Two Releases and That's It for Today

Marquette volleyball issued a press release for its latest three recruits. Welcome to Wisconsin, Shelly and Kelsey. Glad you're staying, Ellie.

Wisconsin volleyball issued a press release regarding the track exploits of Alexis Mitchell, one of its 2009 recruits (as an aside, one of the Badgers' 2011 recruits, Ellen Chapman, won the Illinois state high jump title as a sophomore with a jump of 5' 8").

OK, back to the sunshine. See ya tomorrow.

Fort Collins, Wisconsin?

We recently updated our master list of 2009 women's recruits with Colorado State's official press release for Michelle Smith (Burlington Catholic Central '09). This led inevitably to a review of the Rams' 2009 roster and that's when it hit us: Colorado State has no fewer than three Wisconsinites listed as freshmen:
Looks like we're gonna be spending the next four years keeping a close eye on the happenings in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Let's All Say It Together: YU lee a mi CULL sen

That's apparently how one would pronounce Julie Mikaelsen, the new 6'2" right side for the Badgers volleyball team (and current member of the Norwegian junior national team). We'll add her to our projected rosters link some time tonight.  Someone over at VolleyTalk was also able to dig up this video of the apparently very hard-to-dig Mikaelsen. Let's all welcome her to the best state in the union.

Riverdale's Alex Wiederholt Verbals to Akron

Anyone smart enough to visit the Wisconsin PoWer sites on a regular basis has known about this for about a week, but Riverdale's Alexandra Wiederholt has verbaled to the University of Akron Zips, where she'll join fellow PoWer Sauk athlete, Morgan Kuhn (Dodgeland '09). We've added Alex to our master list of 2009 recruits. Congrats.

Wausau East's Ellie Hovda Verbals to Marquette

Betcha thought we were through with recruiting news. Not so fast. We just found this article (and another) to confirm that Wausau East's Ellie Hovda has indeed verbaled to Marquette. We've added her to our Marquette projected roster post, as well as to our master list of 2009 state recruits. Congrats.

Marquette Volleyball Adds Californian Kelsey Warner

That's right, another recruiting update. The free side of PrepVolleyball.com is sharing that defensive specialist Kelsey Warner will become a Golden Eagle in the fall. We've added her to our Marquette projected roster post. This may or may not do it on the recruiting news for the night. We're still looking for some online links to confirm a few more. Congrats, Kelsey.
