Contenders: Brookfield Central, Brookfield East, Franklin, Greenfield, Milwaukee Hamilton, Milwaukee Pulaski/Arts, Muskego, Racine Case, Racine Horlick, Racine Park, Waterford, Wauwatosa West, West Allis Central and West Allis Hale.
Top Finishers Last Year: Greenfield lost in a sectional final. Brookfield Central and West Allis Hale lost in sectional semifinals.
Random Notes: Wauwatosa West has sophomore middle Jenny Ciriacks who did, in fact, make first-team all-Woodland as a freshman last fall. She'll be joined by junior Sam Himmelspach, who happened to be second-team all-Woodland herself.
Franklin will field a talented team that includes one of the best young setters in the state in junior Nikki Dailey. They also have a fine middle in sophomore Rachel Ambroch.
The big question mark with Greenfield is whether or not first-team all-conference star Stacey Butts will be playing. We're guessing the answer is already available. We just don't know it.
Waterford has a great outside hitter in senior Abby Beilke. They could also turn to sophomore middle Dana Davis and senior outside Tori Juran for some offense.
West Allis Central has, among others, senior middle Jessica Shaver and West Allis Hale will likely turn often to senior outside Theresa Moore. We can't find much on the Racine schools.
Muskego, however, probably has the lineup the rest of the sectional fears most. In addition to senior defensive standout Tricia Foldy (who, by the way, played a key role in Muskego's 2005 state championship when she was a freshman), they'll likely get significant contributions from senior outside Rachel Glisch, junior middle Alison Glisch, sophomore outside Hannah Blanchard, senior setter Angela Mlachnik and a host of others.
Our Prediction: Muskego over Wauwatosa West in three.
Next Up: Girls Division One Sectional Eight
