The Three Results That Caught Our Eye

Here, in no particular order, are three of tonight's results that caught our eye:
  • Shoreland Lutheran over No. 1 regional seed Racine St. Catherine's (D3 S4) in five after dropping the first two sets. We heard that Shoreland Lutheran senior Katie Mormon served 11 in a row at a pivotal moment in the third set (more details to come, probably in the morning)
  • Wausau West defeated Merrill (D1 S1) in five, bringing to a close a very emotionally challenging season for the Blue Jays
  • Wisconsin Lutheran (D2 S4) upset No. 1 regional seed Union Grove in three
We're drained so we'll try to fill in more blanks early tomorrow morning. If you have a positive report to share as a comment, we'll publish it. Thanks.

We got this from someone via e-mail and decided to pass it along verbatim regarding the Racine St. Catherine's v. Shoreland Lutheran game last night: "Engelbrecht (SR OH), and Morman, (SR Libero) took the match over. The seniors from Shoreland dominated the last three sets. Engelbrecht took charge of the kills and Morman dug everything up that St. Cat's hit. It was very exciting!"

Fst alert! Southwestern stunned host potosi 25-21 25-22 the first two games while potosi then squeaked by with a pair of 25-23 wins then tied at 11 in the fifth potosi scored the last 4 to win an extremely tight match from the start 15-11. Every single point was a long volley. It was one of the funnest games to watch ever. For southwestern Amy tranel a junior star had 33 kills and 6 aces while sophomore Katelyn hoppman had 18 kills and 7 blocks. For potosi senior Katie Reynolds had 22 kills.

Potosi survives to play highland on thursday while southwestern waits for next year, in which they'll return everybody but their libero.

Hats off to Shoreland Lutheran, as they definitely "dug down deep" and turned that match around. Best of Luck!
St Cat's should also be very proud of their season. They are 2009 MCC South Conference Champs(8-0) and 2009 MCC Conference Tournament Champs(4-0)! They came back from a 14-11 match point deficit in the Tournament Championship to beat BCC 18-16! Great season Lady Angels!

Does anyone know who won the match between West Bend West and Hartford (D1S4)? The WIAA site does not have this match result listed. Thanks!

Anyone looking for a great night of volleyball should be heading to Watertown on Thursday for the matchups in the Region 5 sectional...it is it's own little state tournament with 4 teams rated in the top 10 in the state going head to head. I predict Watertown and the Falls to prevail
