An Example of What Might Work Best

We've been asked, "What's the best way to share information about a favorite team?" For starters, we freely admit that we're making this up as we go along so the best way might still be TBD. Here's one way that might work in the interim.

Say your favorite high school team just defeated its conference rival in an FST (five-set thriller). Go to the side navigation of the blog and click on the sectional previews for whatever division they're in. Then scroll down until you find the preview for their sectional. Once you do, just leave a comment (anonymously, if you prefer) with any information you want to share. To ensure that it makes it through our censors, follow these general guidelines:
  1. Stress the positive This is not the forum to discuss what's wrong with any team, player or coach. This means that anything we perceive to be the least bit negative will likely not see the light of this blog. This does not mean you can't say that the other team lost. Recent comments left regarding Nicolet's victory over Homestead are, in our opinion, outstanding examples of how to praise the Knights without disparaging the Highlanders. The commenter (presumably a Nicolet fan) is genuinely excited about the sport, the state and the crowds on both sides. We sense, for example, that the same individual is impressed enough with Homestead's Erica Reetz that he or she will want to follow her years at Yale. And probably likes the fact that someone else is reporting that Homestead's Andrea Voss had 50 digs (!) in the three-set match. Is that for real?
  2. Share whatever you're excited about We don't care if you come across as a homer as long as you're positive about it. Sometimes, the only way people statewide will know is if you're the one who talks up a favorite player, coach or team. For example, someone left a comment that Kaitlyn McIntyre passed 1,000 career kills this weekend at the West Bend Lynn LaPorte Sprawl. It'll probably show up in the Beaver Dam paper, but trust us, people all across the state want to know. There's no reason for family, coaches or fans of Beaver Dam volleyball to feel self-conscious about sharing this information. People want to know.
  3. Don't comment by cutting-and-pasting information from another online source See post below for the reason why.
Hope this helps. Other ways to share information is by e-mailing us at vbuberalles@gmail.com or adding a comment to whichever post seems appropriate. We're really starting to feel overwhelmed, but definitely want the information to keep coming (so don't hesitate to remind us if something is slipping through the cracks, either). Thanks.

Hi! I am wondering if you could do something on Wisconsin volleyball coaches that have seniority. I know Charlie Burg from Westosha has like, 32 years of experience and Keith Milkowski has 22, but who are the others?

Good idea. Some of the information is available here: http://wvcawi.net/coachingachievement.htm

A sorta similar feature we'd like to do some day would be to find out and share the biographies of the people after whom some of the tournaments are named (e.g. Lynn LaPorte, Dave Hash, Niki Doedens, etc.).
