Congratulations to West Bend Power 15 Purple, which earned an American bid to the Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships this weekend. To get there, two things had to, and did, fall into place.
After losing to the Iowa Rockets in the semis, West Bend first had to finish third and then hope the Texas Tornados, which had already earned an American bid at a previous qualifier, finished exactly second. If Texas ended up first, they would take the National bid and Iowa would have the American. If Texas finished second, their American bid would "trickle down" to the third-place team.
Power won its third-place match. Step one accomplished. Then Iowa beat Texas in a 15-13 third-game thriller. Iowa gets the National bid. The Tornados' bid trickles down to West Bend Power. Congrats on joining national qualifiers Wisconsin Select 17-1 and FC Elite 15-1.
