We try not to cheer on any team in specific, but it will be hard not to root for these girls after hearing how special this year's state berth is to them and the Merrill volleyball program. The seniors on the Blue Jays' roster are the last class of girls who played under Merrill's late coach Sally Pfund. After their performance in Thursday's quarterfinal match, there is no question that this squad is competing with some extra inspiration as they play in memory of their coach.
