The UW-Oshkosh men’s volleyball team picked up a pair of quality players from Mukwonago High School as 6-2 setter Sean Murphy and 6-5 middle blocker Brandon Wagner both have decided to continue their volleyball and academic careers in a Titans uniform.
The duo will join fellow 2011-2012 recruits Mitchell Lahmann and Tyler Wiedenhoeft as incoming freshmen in the fall.
Murphy, a team captain for three seasons under head coach Rich Glatzcak was named to the Classic 8 Conference honorable mention squad this past season after earning varsity letters his junior and senior campaign.
He is currently playing for Next Level Volleyball Club after participating for Lake Country Volleyball Club his junior year of high school.
Sean is the son of Scott and Jane Murphy and is currently undecided on an intended major. “I selected UW-Oshkosh because it has a lot of different majors to choose from and it has a great volleyball program,” Murphy said when asked when he decided on UW-Oshkosh.
Wagner had a breakout season his senior campaign when he was named a WIAA all-state honorable mention selection after being named to the Classic 8 Conference first-team. Wagner was also first team all-conference his junior season.
Wagner has also participated in basketball and track and field at Mukwonago High School. Brandon is the son of Bob and Colleen Wagner and he intends on pursuing education as a major at UW-Oshkosh.
He is a member of the West Allis Lightning Volleyball Club, a premier club in the state after playing for Lake Country Volleyball Club his junior year.
“I choose UW-Oshkosh because it is a good school that is very strong in my major,” said Wagner. “They have a great volleyball tradition and I look forward to being a part of the team.”
“Both Sean and Brandon attended our volleyball camp last summer and I knew that our success sparked their interest in becoming a Titan,” said Schaefer. “They had the opportunity to work with my assistant coach Jason Wheelock and members of our team and they both have unlimited potential. I am excited to see how good they can become playing around other great volleyball players.”

Tyler Wiedenhoeft Plans On Attending UW-Oshkosh (1-4-11)
Tyler Wiedenhoeft, a 5-8 libero from Mequon, Wisconsin will be joining the UW-Oshkosh men’s volleyball team in the fall of 2011 announced head coach Brian Schaefer.
Wiedenhoeft joins Mitchell Lahmann in the 2011-2012 Titans recruiting class.
“I was told about Tyler by his high school coach and former UW-Milwaukee player Jason Evans,” said Schaefer. “Jason told me that Tyler had a great work ethic and would be an asset to our team. In seeing him play at our practice I agreed as he did some good things and jumped right in during drills and scrimmage.”
Tyler played varsity volleyball at Homestead High School for three seasons and was named to the North Shore Conference second-team in 2010. His Highlander squad reached the WIAA sectional finals the last three seasons.
Tyler has also has success in both baseball and track and field at Homestead High School, earning varsity letters for two seasons in each sport.
The son of Jeff and Debbie Wiedenhoeft, Tyler is a member of the National Honors Society and plans on majoring in business at UW-Oshkosh.
“I choose UW-Oshkosh because it has a very nice campus with everything within a relatively small walking distance. UW-Oshkosh also has a great business department and volleyball program and it felt like the place to go for me.”

Mitch Lahmann Commits to UW-Oshkosh (12-29-10)
Mitch Lahmann, a 6-1 middle blocker from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin has decided to continue his academic and volleyball career at UW-Oshkosh, announced head coach Brian Schaefer. Lahmann becomes the first commitment for the Titans for the 2011-2012 season.
“I am pleased that Mitch will be wearing a Titans jersey in 2012,” said Schaefer. “He is an excellent player that was his team’s go-to-player in high school. He has played at a high level for one of the best club teams in the nation and I think his decision will jump start our commitments for next year.”
Lahmann played his prep days under head coach Kyle Sikora at Wauwatosa West High School, earning second-team all-state honors his senior campaign after being named first-team All-Woodland Conference his junior and senior year.
Lahmann is a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Trojans leading them to the sectional finals for four seasons and to two conference championships.
Lahmann currently plays with the North Shore Volleyball 18-1’s club team, one of the best volleyball clubs in the nation and was also named an All-Area second-team selection by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel this past season.
A well-rounded athlete, he will participate in both baseball and track and field his senior year, completing three years on varsity on the track and two years on varsity on the diamond.
Lahmann is the son of Pam and Jerry and will study physical education at UW-Oshkosh.
“UW-Oshkosh has a great physical education program and many of my relatives have gone there and said it was outstanding,” said Lahmann. “The volleyball program is also highly recognized across the nation and I felt it suited me the best.”
UW-Oshkosh starts its season January 3rd when it begins preseason practices for the 2011 campaign. The Titans first match of the year is Saturday, January 29th at Lakeland College when they will compete in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Play Date.
