Entirely Random Odds & Ends & We'll Add More Throughout the Weekend

The only connection between the following happenings is that they all relate, in one way or another, to volleyball in Wisconsin. Here goes:
  • Allison Wack (Westosha Central '07) was named MVP of the InnTowner Classic
  • According to comments on Volleyball Magazine's Wisconsin boys high school thread, the final finish at the Kettle Moraine Invite appears to be Catholic Memorial over Franklin in the finals with Milwaukee Marquette and Homestead finishing tied for third -- Marquette had beaten Catholic Memorial in a classic five-setter earlier in the week (translation: it's already an incredibly exciting boys season and we'd better start covering it better over here)
  • Nice story about four key seniors on the Kaukauna girls team: Maria Van Abel, McKenzie Freimuth, Sara Prellwitz and Kayle Biese (a fifth, Abbey DeBruin, is out with a knee injury)
  • Story about Marquette's valiant four-setter against No. 3-ranked Stanford -- Nikki Klingsporn and Rabbeckah Gonyo were named to the all-tournament team
  • The Golden Eagles complete their California road trip with a match against St. Mary's at 5 p.m. CST today
  • It's not too soon to mark Friday and Saturday on your calendars for a pair of great non-conference, in-state matchups: UW-Milwaukee Panthers v. Badgers on Friday at 7:30 and UW-Milwaukee Panthers v. Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday at 7:30
  • Central Michigan's Jocelyn VerVelde (Sheboygan Christian '08) returns to the state this weekend as part of the UW-Milwaukee Invitational
  • Green Bay volleyball pulls out a five-set thriller over South Dakota State.
OK, that's all for now, but we'll try to put up a few more random links later today and tomorrow.
