You Know You're Visiting This Site Tomorrow

After two years of near-perfection on New Years Day predictions (2008 and 2009), we're scared beyond silly that tomorrow will reveal us to be the charlatans that we absolutely are.

Such are the perils of blogging.

In any event, today is your one and only day to try to convince us that your team is gonna win it all in 2010. We're all ears. In fact, we'll donate $5 to Special Olympics Wisconsin for every comment that positively makes a case for who's gonna win girls D1, D2, D3, D4 or the boys tournament.

For boys, Kaukauna even though they lose six seniors that were all conference selections they still have all both starting setters, a big middle block, al judkins at outside remember his name he will be special, an outside that missed the whole season, and a great JV squad to reload other positions with, the only spots needed to be developed is the back row, but they will be fine...Kaukauna will challenge for state

Some D4 Teams to watch:
Feel good story of 2009 Highland returns 6 of their starting 7 including middle hitter Kendall Winkes.
Watch for Catholic Central to possibly start another run as they only lose two starters. Last year they started two freshman and two sophomores along with one junior and still had a winning record against by far the toughest D4 schedule.
N.E.W. Lutheran returns four starters, three of which were first team All Packerland.
State champs McDonell Central only loses three seniors, but two of those were their top two in kills, but return 1st Team All Cloverbelt West setter Karley Wiensch to lead them.
Players to Watch:
Afformenting Kendall Winkes carried Highland to state with 5.7 kills/game as well as being named to the STate All Tournament Team and HM All State.
Hailey Brown was a 3rd Team All State selection; lead Royall in kills with 435, aces with 89, block with 70, second on team in digs with 315, and second on team in assists with 238.
Arianna Wiersma (Cambria-Friesland) is the two time Trailways North POY entering her senior year; also HM All State.
If I had to choose a State Champion and a POY for D4 right now I would go with Catholic Central to win state and Hailey Brown of Royall as the D4 POY.

Racine Saint Catherine's is my "sleeper" pick for D-3! They bring back their entire MCC Conference Championship team (less one senior), and now have the experience they've been lacking. They have sophomore Haley Jeffcoat/OH-MCC Player of the Year and junior Kathleen Omelina/MB-MCC 1st team to help lead them on a run to state! If you want to ring in 2010 right, pick "um! (P.S. Even if you don't pick "um, I'm gonna triple your donation, because it's a great cause.)
