Even though the two teams i wanted to win did not, it was some very good volleyball played. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Manitowoc Lutheran and Highland had the best turnout out of the four D4 teams. And Highland had all the neutral spectators cheering for them by the end of the match. That's what State is all about, the community coming together around one team, and the Highland community definitely displayed that today. Nothing to be ashamed of, especially since, senior wise, they are the second youngest team at state other than Tomahawk. Kendall Winkes is the real deal for Highland, she could have gone swing for swing and block for block up against Kelly Hauf. Just cannot say enough good things about what I have heard and seen of the Highland volleyball program (the community). Look forward to pulling for them to come out of the southwest sectional again next year.
