How does WVCA determine All-State honors??
What do the numbers on far right mean?
WVCA divides the state into regions. The far right numbers are the regions in which the players play. At least that's how we've always read it.
If the head coach is not a member of the WVCA, a player from that school is not eligible for any WVCA honors no matter how good she may be!
Just as coaches that are not members of the AVCA cannot nominate their players to be (Under Armour) AVCA High School All Americans no matter how good they are.
It seems that this list always shorts some great volleyball players. It would be nice to have the all state teams divided into the four WIAA divisions. The smaller divisions always get smacked!
We're putting up some of these comments with hesitation. It's hard to make lists and we appreciate the effort that goes into making them. We also realize they're never perfect. How can they be?
Even though we're not pretending it's the same as making all-state, this blog and several other online platforms try to provide opportunities to praise players who might otherwise be under the radar. For example, there's a post called "Senior Shout Outs" that lets anyone thank and praise the contributions of those in the Class of 2010. Again, we realize it's not the same as being named all-state, but it's something. And the more somethings out there, the more the sport in the state will grow.
thank you,jk
I was a little surprised to see only one libero in the whole bunch. Anyone else mention that? Just curious.
