What We Said Then v. What We Think Now (Girls Division Two)

As we did with division one yesterday, we're gonna take a quick look back at our August predictions and compare them to what we think today.

What We Said Then Hayward over Sparta

What We Think Now We haven't kept up with this sectional well enough to really say one way or the other, although the seedings came out today and they seem to indicate that we weren't far off with our prognostications. The No. 1 seeds by regional are Hayward, Altoona, Tomahawk and West Salem. Sparta is a No. 2. The addition of transfer Sydney Lakatos gives Tomahawk a legitimate shot at a Resch road trip.

What We Said Then Waupun over Appleton Xavier

What We Think Now It's hard to argue against a team like Waupun, defending state champions and winners of the highly competitive Lynn LaPorte Sprawl. Appleton Xavier is still a logical contender (and a No. 1 seed). As was the case in D1, however, we sorta overlooked some quality Green Bay schools. In D1 it was Preble. In D2 it's Notre Dame, a No. 1 seed in their regional. Our bad.

What We Said Then Edgewood over Sauk Prairie

What We Think Now Well, in all our questionable August wisdom, we managed not to pick any of the four regional No. 1 seeds (River Valley, Edgerton, Lodi and Lakeside Lutheran) but we still like Edgewood's chances, a No. 2 seed in their regional. Sauk Prairie is also a No. 2 regional seed.

What We Said Then Catholic Memorial over Kettle Moraine Lutheran

What We Think Now We still like our two finalists and feel Halloween night at Milwaukee Lutheran (the site of the sectional finals) could very well shape up to be one incredible slugfest. Don't count out Union Grove, either. They're another team that has made a strong case for their No. 1 regional seeding and could very well work their way into the mix.

We'll tackle girls division three tomorrow.
