Putting Up a Wall of Results
Since it's so hard to keep up with everything on most Sunday mornings in the fall, we're gonna try something new just for grins. Instead of neat, little posts about this and that which typically miss the other things, we're gonna stop trying to organize and just start rambling (with links, of course) to everything that interested us from various Saturday tournaments. The first thing we'll share on this solid wall of copy is that Kaukauna defeated Waupun to win the Neenah Invite. This is particularly interesting to us because we witnessed the Ghosts just narrowly miss a three-way tie in a power pool at last weekend's Lynn LaPorte Sprawl in an incredible three-set game v. Waupun. Keep a close eye on Kaukauna when the playoffs start. This is a team that has a lot of weapons (Leah Van Zeeland, McKenzie Freimuth and Maria Van Abel, to name just three) and the Ghosts could make a deep, deep run. The order of finish for the rest of the teams was Waunakee, Neenah, Appleton Xavier, D.C. Everest, Marshfield and Sun Prairie. Next up on this wall of copy is from the Burlington Catholic Central Hilltopper Invite where Union Grove once again turned to sisters Kaitlyn Wilks and Jo Wilks for the one-two punch the Broncos needed to emerge victorious. The Highlander Invite saw the host team, Homestead, triumphed in a TST (i.e. three-set thriller) over West Bend East. We'll be honest, though: We're looking at the results at jsonline.com and can't quite figure out where Nicolet ended up based on the information provided there (4-0 in pool play then no further mention). The Knights and Highlanders are, of course, in the same sectional (five) and we're curious to hear how things transpired. And speaking of the aforementioned sectional five, Menomonee Falls (another contender) hosted its own tournament and Divine Savior Holy Angels, Germantown (yet another) and Middleton finished 1-2-3 in it. OK, even though this wall of results is far from complete, we're going to post this and add to it later. Stay tuned. OK, we're back to let you know that someone spelled out the Nicolet girl's day in the comments below and some brand new boys' results, for which we'll rely heavily on the Volleyball Magazine message board: Milwaukee Marquette appears to have won the Middleton Invite by defeating Catholic Memorial in the championship game. Racine Horlick appears to have won the Kenosha Tremper Invite by defeating Franklin in the championship game. MVP was Dillon Martinez of Racine Horlick. Others on the all-tournament team include Franklin's Riley Stone and John Jablonowski, Racine Horlick's Jeff Spangenberg and Devon Thomas, Muskego's Sam Benson and Kenosha Tremper's Brian Quinn. Also, Nicolet appears to have won the Shorewood Invite. by defeating Appleton North in three in the championship game. Let us know what else should be on the Saturday results wall although we're so tired we might leave it in the comments section. Thanks.

Same thing with the Arrowhead Invite, I'm really interested how Faith Christian did after going 4-0 in their pool. At least they post their results in a couple of different places, but for now they are still undefeated to the best of my knowledge.
Faith Chirstian lost in what I belive was the Championship match to Wisconsin Lutheran at Arrowhead, now 23-1.
Regarding Nicolet - They had a really good 4-0 run in the morning, a bye in the first round of the afternoon pool, and then exited after a loss to West Bend East.
No way I'd want to be any part of sectional five..at least 5 legit contenders. Was lucky enough to be at the Falls invite nothing but TST's in the gold pool(DSHA,Germantown,Middleton) and another in morning pool between Falls/Germantown. Toon(Middleton) is possibly the best all around player I've seen this year.
jim schultz of westosha had a 25 kill night in a 4 game match against Bradford to make it to 1023 kills
