One Remedy for DD Syndrome: Follow the Path of the Hurricanes

We talked about DD Syndrome in our Hitting Lines blog post on Monday. Simply put, it's the temptation to only follow our own dear daughter's (or dear son's) team. Well, if your DD does not play for the Hayward Hurricanes, following this 4-0 team could be one way to expand your volleyball horizons.

Last night, Hayward opened its home season by beating Rice Lake 3-1 to partially avenge their 3-2 loss in last year's sectional semifinal. Morgan Lee and Amy McDonald both registered double-digit kills. This report came via e-mail, but we'll try to find a story link.

In other Heart O'North conference news, one player we've been told to keep an eye on (and we always do what we're told) is senior outside Adrienne Uthe of Eau Claire Memorial.

(Note: We're in the arduous process of updating our August sectional previews with links to 2009 rosters, WVCA scores and sectional news. It's going to take some time, but we think it'll be useful at season's end to have key sectional information in one place. We're starting with division one sectionals, but we did take a side trip to Hayward's sectional, D2S1, to include some of the above info. All help always appreciated.)

Adrienne's a senior and IIRC an outside hitter.

Adrienne Uthe is one very fine volleyball player. She loves a great fight, and she only gets better in match play , when the competition gets tough. Give her a set and the ball is gone... Best hitter around. JH
