As mentioned in previous posts, the folks over at Wisconsin Sports Net have decided to make a go at covering Wisconsin high school volleyball in a much bigger way--and we really, really, really like that.
We like it so darn much, in fact, that we've agreed to do a weekly post over there that will begin Monday, August 24th. It'll be called "Hitting Lines" and the content will range from random observations about the sport to news about the previous weekend's big tournaments to what have you.
Will this blog go away? Nope. Not going anywhere. We'll still do what we're doing here with the exception of that one Monday post--and you'll be able to read that with a simple, and free, click o' the mouse.
We've decided to try this for one fundamental reason: We believe the more names, stats, rankings and conversation about Wisconsin prep volleyball is going on out there, the more the sport will grow in Wisconsin. And we really, really, really want that.
So how much are we getting paid? Nothing, actually. In exchange for the weekly post, they've simply agreed to occasionally run an ad we're gonna create for our Cheese & Volleyball Store. Yeah, we're still hoping to sell a few buttons, bumper stickers, mugs and other stuff that promotes the sport, the state and, yes, our blog (whose purpose, in turn, is to promote the sport and the state). We'll probably even add a few more items in the not-too-distant future.
One other thing: We'll occasionally add discussion topics on the WisSportsNet volleyball forum and throw in our two cents on existing threads. Join the conversation if you feel so inclined.
Enough said. We'll see you here seven days a week, over there on Monday for "Hitting Lines" and perhaps even more often on their discussion threads or when we're trading comments to Tyler Cleveland's First Serve blog.
