Random News from Here, There and Italy

There's no good way of doing this (or there is a good way, but it'd take forever) so we're just going to bullet point stories as fast as we can type them then keep updating this post with cool, new stuff. In other words, check back ever 15 minutes or so.
  • Jeremy Dejno (New Berlin United '10) had 13 kills as the USA upset Iran in Italy. Congrats to both him and fellow Wisconsinite on the team, Nick Gibson (Shorewood '09, Ohio State '13). Way to go, Wisconsinites!
  • Duke and Wisconsin appear to be going into a fifth set at the InnTowner Classic. Click here for updates.
  • Six coaches at the InnTowner Classic have Wisconsin ties: Wisconsin's Pete Waite (Monona Grove) and Colleen Bayer (Catholic Memorial and Wisconsin-Madison), Ohio's Ryan Theis (Middleton and UW-Milwaukee), South Dakota's Matt Houk (UW-Milwaukee), Jerad Gelante (UW-Milwaukee) and Leanne Felsing (UW-Milwaukee).
  • We've updated the 2009 Freshman on the Floor list based on our review of some rosters.
  • UW-Milwaukee lost in three to Iowa State, but the last set was 26-24 and they'll have a chance for revenge tomorrow afternoon. Notable stats: Melissa Jansen (West Bend West '07, we think) had 10 kills and hit .533 for the Panthers. Ashley Mass (Muskego '07) had 16 digs and Debbie Stadick (Watertown '08) hit .417 for the Cyclones.
  • Wisconsin Badgers lose in five to Duke.
  • Marquette defeats Eastern Kentucky for Bond Symansky's first win as a Golden Eagle. Notable stats: Looks like a balanced attack offensively. Nikki Klingsporn had 30 assists.
  • The Green Bay Phoenix match is on the west coast so it's still in progress.
  • OK, we're gonna stop adding bullet points now (maybe) and try to get the division one sectional eight preview up before midnight.
