"I Spent Half an Hour Digging Out the Car"

Rarely does news about a volleyball practice appear on the blog. Even rarer is news about a non-Wisconsin team's practice.

Yet here we are, passing along this fascinating story about the Ball State men's volleyball team holding Wednesday practice in spite of 12.8 inches of snow that had caused the university's classes to be canceled.

Talk about dedication.

And that's where the Wisconsin connection comes in. Ethan Pheister, Ball State's all-conference setter and a Shorewood alum, said he was glad practice wasn't canceled even though he had a fair amount of difficulty getting there: "It was terrible. I actually got stuck in the alley and I ended up just walking there. It took me twice as long to walk. I spent half an hour digging out the car."

Ball State also features Shorewood alum Eric Schulte. The Cardinals take on No. 11 Lewis (and their three Wisconsinites) on Friday night (live audio is available).
