We're Digging October (Almost as Much as We're Digging our New 25+ Dig List)

Yesterday, we said we would start a new list in honor of the various Dig for the Cure events happening around the state this month.

This "We're Digging October" list will include everyone--male or female, high school or college--who records at least 25 or more digs in a single match during the month of October. And future Badger Kelli Kasha's incredible 42-dig effort last night in Beaver Dam certainly gets our new list off to a great start.

Please let us know of anyone else who belongs, but remember that we're only listing October.

42 digs is an incredible number, I'm also amazed by Erienne Lauersdorf's 27 since she plays in the front row as well. Must have been a great match!

wow theres only one guy on this list. and hes a middle.

VBuberalles said...

The fact that "there's only one guy on the list" is probably due to the fact that there are fewer guys than girls playing volleyball at the moment (fewer high school programs and no college yet), as well as the fact that we've probably done a poor job of capturing the data. If you know of others, please share. And we'll keep looking. Thanks.

and maybe that girls vball is more defense oriented and boys is all about power.

We're going to stick with our theories listed above.

so you dont agree that girls vball is more defense oriented and boys is more about power?

VBuberalles said...

Our main point was that it's only logical that four NCAA D1 programs, one NCAA D2 program, scores of NCAA D3 programs and four WIAA girls divisions will create more defensive stats than WIAA boys volleyball.

The other point is that while we're trying to find everything we can, we're sure we're missing more than enough stats, male and female, to make this post rather worthless for drawing conclusions about the boys game v. the girls game.

And we've seen too many insane digs by guys and incredible kills by girls over the years to feel the need to generalize.

RN,

We do appreciate all the stats you've provided and are mad at ourselves that we haven't yet gotten around to updating the actual posts to reflect all your effort. But we're working on it.

well watch a guys hs match then a girls hs match and tell me that girls are more about power and guys are more about defense. or even that they are both about the same. they are not. theres no denying that.
