Now Read This (and This and This and This)

It's Tuesday morning and that means there's usually more than a little to read:
  • In the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel it looks as though Nick Gibson recorded 25 kills in Shorewood's loss to Wauwatosa West so we'll add him to our list.
  • The MJS also names the Milwaukee Marquette boys volleyball team as its team of the week thanks to their triumph at the Whitefish Bay Invite. No, we're not doing another list, but the Hilltoppers are one of several teams in the state with only a single loss--we believe the Eau Claire Regis girls have the same distinction.
  • Also in the MJS, junior Katie Mroczenski of New Berlin Eisenhower was named one of their athletes of the week for her stellar performances at the Arrowhead Invite, as well as against Greendale and Wauwatosa West.
  • We finally found something on the Trailways conference tournament that occurred over the weekend. The Watertown Daily Times reports that Dodgeland won the Trailways South tournament to claim a share of the league title with Deerfield. Here's the same Dodgeland story in the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen.
  • And while you're in that neck of the woods, you might as well read the Watertown Daily Times article about Watertown's finish at the Scholastic Cup in Illinois.
  • The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram has a nice feature on Chippewa Falls and the school's Big River Conference title. The senior-laden team has also gotten valuable contributions from junior Michelle Froehlich and sophomore Kendra Bowe.
  • In the same paper, there's a recap of Altoona's victory in its host invite. Sarah Nielsen and Brittany Gregorich were two of the stars for the Railroaders.
  • Intriguing matches tonight include Grantsburg v. Turtle Lake and Muskego v. Franklin. Grantsburg, of course, is going for a perfect season and Franklin has setter Nikki Dailey, who recently verbaled to Iowa and is listed as a "player to watch" in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's recap of girls volleyball.

Sister Act
The Racine Journal Times (http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/10/15/hs_sports/doc48f54ed97b984918191526.txt)reports that Racine Lutheran Middle, Rachel Aumann(Sr.), had 24 kills against Kenosha Christian Life (25-14, 25-16, 25-20)and her sister Rosie (Fr.), Setter had 38 assists. Not a bad combo. Keep your eyes on Racine Lutheran in the playoffs.
