D1 S4 Should Be All That and More

We'd love to link to stories about West Bend West's electrifying five-set victory over West Bend East last night, but we believe the only ones we've seen so far are part of subscription-only sites. If anyone wants to share what they saw (in a positive manner, of course), add your thoughts as a comment below.

We can say that division one sectional four is going to be one of our favorite sectionals to watch come playoff time. It's hard to decide who's going to emerge victorious between West Bend East, West Bend West, Beaver Dam, Fondy, Oshkosh West (still undefeated) and all the other contenders in this competitive sectional.

We can also share that, in our opinion, West Bend West's Sara Blasier is distinguishing herself as one of the best Freshmen on the Floor in the state this season.

Oh yeah, four of them will battle each other at the Sprawl this weekend. We'll post the pools when we get them, hopefully yet today. And we've added a brand new poll question that lets our readers weigh in on which D1 S4 team will have the best Sprawl finish.

(Below is an edited version of a comment left anonymously about 30 minutes ago--since almost everyone talking on this blog is doing so anonymously, including us, we're going to be crazy zealous about avoiding anything but the most positive remarks, even words like the ones we edited that might have been perfectly acceptable to say if everyone knew who was talking--hope that made sense.)

"Basically West came to play. West was better than I think a lot of people expected. Bagin was hammering balls as usual, Picel did a great jobs digging and serve receiving, Blasier was great all around, setting was great, everything was just clicking. It was a very exciting match to watch!"

Why don't you accept all posts, that is what a forum is all about as long as it is not attacking an individual.

Excellent question. The simple answer is that we don't view this as a forum at all so much as a blog whose primary mission is to showcase great things that are happening in the state. There are forums available. We tried to start one at SportsNat.com. There's prepvolleyball.com. The boys use Volleyball Mag. Please use one or all of those for opinions. We're not associated any of them so we obviously have no power to edit on those. Hope that helps. We'll keep publishing what we find positive. Thanks for reading.

Question:

When you talk about "subscription only sites" are you saying that if someone sends you a link to an article from their online subscription, you can't post the link?

Trying to err on the side of caution. Working through it. We might publish that WB story link yet. Stay tuned.

Great Match!!
West won the first two games pretty easily behind their two big hitters (Bagin & Blasier) and some scrappy defense. Games 3 and 4 went to East as their defense tightened up. Momentum was with East for most of those two games, but seemed to switch back to West at the end of the 4th game.
Fifth game went to West. More big hits from Bagin & Blasier and some errors on East side seemed to decide the game.
West is a fun team to watch. They are very young (3 freshmen & 1 sophomore starting) and make mistakes, but they are talented. Their libero is solid on the back row, they have two hitters that can hit it very hard and a setter that can get them the ball.

Sorry it took almost an hour to approve this last comment on the West-East match. It's exactly the sort of positive insights into a match that we're looking for. Great commentary. Thanks.
