A week or so ago, we neglected to give attention where attention is clearly due: Leanne Felsing was named Pepsi/UW-Milwaukee female athlete of the year. It's quite an honor and puts a nice bow on her outstanding Panther career. Of course, since talk of Leanne is often accompanied by mention of her sister, Lauren, we've decided to use this opportunity to try something a little different for this blog.
We're encouraging our readers to add some very specific comments to this particular post. In your comment, please identify your #1 all-time-favorite volleyball sister act, along with an explanation as to why they top your list. Was it on-court dominance, off-court character or a combo of both?
This is not intended to be and will NOT become any sort of a top 10 list or comparison between one group of sisters and another. It's simply a way to give equal, well-deserved props to some great players, both past (think way back) and present. We want your all-time favorites so don't include more than one set of sisters in your comment. We'll publish each one we feel is in keeping with the spirit of this exercise as quickly as we can.
So is it Wack and Wack, Dolgner, Dolgner, Dolgner and Dolgner or Your Daughter and Your Other Daughter? Now's the time to share with the group.

The example below should give you an idea of how we see this discussion going. Simply leave your own comment that fills in these blanks:
"The ________ sisters of ________ will always be my all-time favorite sister act because they ___________."
The Sueppel sisters will always be my favorite sister act because they are amazing volleyball players who have always accepeted their accolades with humility and good grace, while remaining kind and helpful and supportive of their teammates.
The DuPont sisters...great VB players....great people.
The Gardner sisters of West Bend East will always be my favorite all-time sister act because they helped put West Bend volleyball on the map!
To go back a few years...the Bush sister's, Nikki and Carrie, were both really good and entertaining to watch...they went on to great college carreers as well.
How about the Gabrielson sisters ?Both play hard and strong, and have overcome physical obstacles.
In your paragraph above you listed 4 Dolgners-there are actually 5 and they are my favorite sister acts.
Here they are, and the years they won Wisconsin D-2 state championships:
Dara Dolgner- 1996,1997
Deanna Dolgner- 1997,1999
Desi Dolgner- 2001, 2002, 2003
Britney Dolgner- 2002, 2003, 2004 2005
Brandi Dolgner- 2008
12 total state championships!!
The Dolgners. There are just so "dolg" gone many of them!
Can't forget Kirby and Molly Toon either.
The Johnson sisters of Grantsburg are one of many amazing sets of sisters to have played for the perennial powerhouse on the tip of the nose of Wisconsin. Kelcy-2002, Elise-2003, and Whitney-2006 all played in Division 3 state tournaments. Kelcy and Elise were starters on the 2001 state champ team (Kelcy was WVCA State All-Tournament) and both still hold WIAA tourney records. Whitney played in two state tourneys...2003 (runner-up) and 2005. ALL THREE were valedictorians and Kelcy & Whitney were WIAA STATEWIDE scholar/athletes. All went on to brilliant college careers in academics, though not volleyball.
Thanks.
OK, it's me again...same anonymous person. I have a pile of sisterly triumvirates to rattle off from Grantsburg. ALL have been on state tournament teams @ GHS, and we find it (and them) pretty amazing!
1. Bjellands: Torrie-1996, Callie-2002 (state champ, WVCA State All-Tournament), Mollie-2007 (2-time All-State outside hitter and now a starting setter for Winona State)
2. Andersons: Kristina-1998 (coach of Shanghai boys' team you featured), Britta-2005, Maarja-2008
3. Sundquists: Amy-1997, Sara-1999, Becky-2002 (state champ)
4. Amundsons: Cassie-2000, Nell-2003 (state champ), Lauren-2007
5. Myers: Tracy-1999, Melissa-2001, Carrie-2006
6. The Johnsons I already mentioned above
