Just miles from the world-famous Mars Cheese Castle on I-94, Wisconsin Juniors hosted Junior Pride I at the Lakeview Rec Plex in Pleasant Prairie--and C&V was there. We focused almost entirely on the 18s, although that age classification is somewhat misleading since three of the four semifinalists were younger.
In the first semi, Sauk Power 18 Royal defeated Sauk Power 17 Royal in two. The younger Sauks held their own through much of game one, but the older group eventually pulled away, then took the second game easily to earn a trip to the finals.
The other semi pitted Club Breakout 17-1 against Wisconsin Juniors 16-1 in a three-game thriller. Club Breakout ultimately prevailed in a 16-14 deciding game.
In the finals, Sauk 18s and Club Breakout split the first two games. In the deciding game to 15, Breakout pulled away early to win the tournament.
It was an exciting day of volleyball with plenty of strong performances--and everyone was home in time to see Eli follow in his big brother's cleat-steps.
